Position Summary

The Research Scientist role at Subtle Medical will develop innovative machine learning techniques and advance the research agenda of the team you work on, while also collaborating with peers across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement state-of-the-art deep learning models for medical imaging acquisition, reconstruction, image processing and analysis
  • Translate new technologies into product solutions for improved clinical care
  • Support and participate in applicable Quality Management System (QMS) processes for Subtle Medical AI/ML Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) products.
  • Develop and validate prototypes for new applications following the design control
  • Participate in applicable data protection related activities, such as audits, investigations, and training, and comply with all applicable company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and customers to address unmet clinical needs
  • Conduct original research resulting in patents and scientific publications
  • Use broad expertise to resolve quality issues

Qualifications

Key Competencies

  • Strong experience in deep learning and computer vision, including designing and implementing deep convolutional neural networks and GAN
  • Familiar with medical imaging, such as MRI, PET and CT
  • Excellent programing skills in Python and C/C++
  • Experience with deep learning tools (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Caffe, etc)
  • Collaborative, self-motivated and have a can-do attitude
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) regulations and applicable familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304, and IEC 62366.

Education

  • M.S./Ph.D. Candidate in EE/CS/BME or related fields

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with cloud computing (AWS, Google Cloud, etc)
  • Experience with software development processes in a regulated industry
  • Experience with medical imaging reconstruction

Location

This is a remote role with potential for 10% travel. Travel is primarily related to conference presentations or organization on-sites/off-sites. Candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area are given the option to work hybrid at the Menlo Park office.
